There has been a lot of debate on whether removing the tax credit for electric vehicles was anti-environmentalist. The answer to that debate is that the tax credit will not be removed, at least until an automaker reaches a two hundred thousand vehicle cap.
House Republicans pushed to cut the credit, but Senate Republicans rejected their push. As electric vehicles are still not everyone’s first choice, cutting off support from the government could’ve crippled the industry for them. The law providing the tax credit was passed by President Obama. Electric car sales rose in November.
