Mayors Join Auto Industry in Fight to Maintain EV Tax Credit

22 mayors have pressed the House and Senate committee to keep the $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit. Currently, the House has initiated to eliminate the credit from the tax credit bill, but the Senate has voted to keep it. The issue comes down to cost. Electric vehicles are still more expensive than traditional vehicles but supporters believe the credit offsets the initial purchase. In turn, more people buy electric vehicles because of the credit allowed.
