Google Maps is testing a Wi-Fi-only mode to help users save data – The Verge

There is experimentation with a new application for Google Maps. The intent is to help limit data usage and thus help with cost controls. The method of application would be to use Wi-Fi connections rather than the typical cellular usage data, thus lowering costs for many customers. This is still in preliminary stages but looks hopeful.
