Federal court: WI’s Republican-drawn redistricting maps are unconstitutional – OnMilwaukee.com

Act 43 in Wisconsin refers to voting districts drawn by Wisconsin Republicans. The new voting districts strongly favor Republicans and were formed in such a way that many voters’ ballots won’t count. A federal court ruled that Act 43 was established to stop Democratic voters from contributing to legislative seats, violating their voting rights, and is therefore unconstitutional. This was demonstrated clearly in 2012 Assembly races when Democratic candidates won over 200,000 more votes than Republicans yet the Republicans had the majority of Assembly seats in a ratio of 60 seats to 39.
