Bombay HC asks for Google Maps images to assess extent of damage to mangroves – Hindustan Times

Public Interest litigation, presented to an Indian High Court in Bombay, centering around real estate projects, ended up requiring Google Maps, as it was considered that damage was being done to wetlands. Direction to the state was given by the court to procure such maps, so that assessments could be made about the alleged potential damage. Various building projects were cited as possibly putting Indian mangrove forests and wetlands in harm’s way. And while some projects could be needed to bolster infrastructure, it was argued that the court needed to consider future generations.
